How to install single ply membranes

With the purpose build modern training centre at Clay Cross, we are in the position to carry out both IKO Armourplan (PVC) and IKO Spectraplan (TPE) single ply training sessions. The training given is important to enable operatives to gain knowledge of our products, application methods and standard details.

The training is currently a two day course but with the increase of products, it will soon be a two and a half day course. Depending on the demand, courses are normally run weekly. During the classroom training, our experienced field engineers present the trainees in-depth information on application methods by demonstrating the good and bad practice, as well as giving them an introduction to our products. Both membranes and accessories are presented with clear guidelines to install the products.

After the theory is covered in classroom training sessions, practical sessions take place for further demonstrations. First the field engineers show the trainees how to do the standard detailing, then the trainees practice the installation by using purpose built rigs to make sure they can apply the theory into practice.

The training can be used as part of the Basic Competency Program to gain a qualification and also towards gaining a CSCS card.

With quality expectations being high, every contract is monitored with interim and final inspections by our team of field engineers. Detailed reports are issued following our visit.

As we understand that everyone has to start somewhere and it is not realistic to expect a high quality result from a beginner, our site team offers guidance and sets time aside for extra site visits to support fitters so workmanship improves over time.

We are always looking to improve our products and value the feedback from installers. The launch of our new rainwater outlet range is a direct result of taking on board the feedback we received.

As IKO Polymeric grows taking its position as the market leader, so do our contractors and the quality of installations. Our dedicated team of field engineers look forward to training further candidates in the future. Thanks to the regular site visits in their respective territories, they make sure the quality is in place and the contractor and client are both happy.

If you want to become a registered contractor with IKO Polymeric, please contact Hannah Westwood at our Technical Department to book your training.
